Closed Circuit
Utilizing the multiple camera viewpoints of any built-in surveillance system, in this case the CCTV infrastructure of the Cologne art fair building, a spatial portrait is taken of the building thru its camera network in place.
A live video feed, re-routed from the security control room, will be displayed in the gallery booth. Unmanipulated and unfiltered, it displays the surveilled world verbatim. At certain times during the duration of the fair, the live camera views are manipulated, used as staging areas for minimalist performative actions. The resulting video is recorded and canned as ambient performance.
